Vladimir Devyatov: "Give the harmony to a kid".

In October 2011 the State Children's folk-singing school was opened in Moscow by decision of Moscow cultural department, approved by Moscow government. It’s located in the West AD, in the municipal district Ramenky at Setunsky third passage, 16. An outstanding singer of folk songs and romances, people's artist of Russia Vladimir Devyatov became its founder and artist director. According to the singer, who has devoted himself to the folk song, "Russian children should have an opportunity to learn the basics of folk-singing culture of their country, in school also. Thus they will grow like patriots respecting traditions, history and culture of the motherland, but not the "cloned" people of Western values system.  
The idea of necessity to discover the folk song for Russian children was created by Vladimur Devyatov -  the graduate of Gnesyns Musical-Pedagogical Institute  (now Russian Academy of Music him.  Gnesinih), that time he was an aspiring singer on tour in far Australia in 1990.
To the end of  Vladimir’s concert tour first wave’s Russian emigrants, who left  homeland in the beginning of the 20th century , gave textbooks of Russian folk singingfor 19th century gymnasiums. Thereat the singer wondered: why in modern educational institutions in Russia there is no such a subject which would be studied people's greatest property - folk song recognized worldwide?
Children's studio creation in one of the Moscow’s regions 10 years ago became the first step of Vladimir Devyatov to initiate the State Children's folk-singing school opening. Children of different nationalities were taught the basics of folk-singing culture of Russia In this studio.
The extensive experience was accumulated by Studio teachers while working with children. Professor at the Academy of Music, Doctor of Art Lyudmila Vasilyevna Shamin developed the theoretical basis of the method of teaching children folk song.Theoretical method basis of how to teach children the folk song were developed by Professor at the Academy of Music him.  Gnesinih, Doctor of Art Lyudmila Vasilyevna Shamina. It is based on the using of hidden "ethnic hearing" that the child inherits and then develops in the ethnically distinctive communication. Through ethnography of "his" musical language, kid begin to understand music in general. A charity project was organized by children's studio of Vladimir Devyatov in 2009. The essence of the project is - to teach gifted children from disadvantaged families using specially developed programs for free. This project received “life” thanks to financial assistance of Moscow English Club.
Since a long time the studio was functioned only by parents who paid for their kids, there is a serious question for its modernization and development.
Contemporary reality and an active desire of Vladimir Devyatova to attach as many kids as it’s possible to a deep study of the Russian folk- singing culture naturally led him to the next concept of development: "The studio just needs to become the state music school.
And the most important is  to become the initial step in the folk singing education, subsequent stages of which will be music school then college and the Russian Academy of Music him.  Gnesinih. "The first condition of the concept has already been implemented - in the structure of GBUKiO of Moscow "V.Devyatov’s Center" State Children's folk-singing school is functioned and financed from the city budget.
The school's motto - "Give the harmony to a kid" - reflects not only the need for artistic and aesthetic education for the harmonious development of the child. We hope that the love and respect to folk culture, traditions and history of Russia will be the unifying motif for our youth and help it in the future to bring harmony into its life, in the life of Russian society.

 Adopted children:
7-13 years on the basis of listening - for free (200rub. per month)
    5-6 years preparatory group - charged (from 200rub. per lesson)

Subjects, taught in school: solo singing, vocal ensemble, ear training, music literature, general piano, dance, folk art, as well as an optional subject (folk orchestra instruments, guitar, balalaika, accordion).

Apprenticeship:
    7 years - for children enrolled at School (7-8 y/o);
    5 years - for children enrolled at School (9-12 y/o).
